FEDECMI/CASA MICHOACÁN

Is a non-profit organization founded in 1996, dedicated to promoting the well-being and progress of Michoacán migrants in the US Midwest through cultural, social, sports, and educational activities among the immigrant communities, with a transnational mission.

The path to citizenship and psychological therapy

Become a U.S. citizen

If you meet any of these requirements:
 

  • Be a legal resident for 4 years and 9 months and have basic English
    or

  • Be a legal resident for 2 years and 9 months, be married to a U.S. citizen for at least 3 years, and have basic English.

    English is not necessary if you have:
     

  • 50 years old and has been a legal resident for 20 years
    or

  • 55 years old and has been a legal resident for 15 years

Psychological therapy

  1. Free

  2. In Spanish and English

  3. In-person and virtual

  4. Individual, family or group
     

To the following people:

  • If you identify as LGBTQ+

  • You live in Illinois

  • If you are over 12 years old

    or
     

  • If you live in Kane County, you can receive therapy at our Elgin office.

  • If you live in Chicago, you can also receive therapy at our Chicago office.


* Priority will be given to the LGBTQ+ population

Health and Wellness
  • Assistance for public aid: LINK/SNAP, Medical Card, TANF

  • Appointment and paperwork management: school, medical, employment, consular, City Key ID, driver's license, US passport and more

  • Marketplace (Obamacare) registration and assistance in selecting a health plan

  • Individual, family and/or group therapy for LGBTQ+ populations and residents of Kane County

  • Information and referrals: rehabilitation, psychological therapy, domestic violence, English classes, food bank, medical clinics, housing assistance, tax preparation, LIHEAP, WIC, Moms & Babies, VTTC, emergency medical card, and more
