Is a non-profit organization founded in 1996, dedicated to promoting the well-being and progress of Michoacán migrants
FEDECMI
1996
FEDECMI was founded by migrants from Michoacán, Mexico residing in the Midwest United States.
2004
Casa Michoacán initiative launched, acquiring the Chicago location through collaboration with the State of Michoacán.
2006
Headquarters for planning historic immigrant rights marches on March 10th and May 1st.
2007
Organized 1st Summit of Latin American Migrant Communities in Morelia, gathering 600+ migrant leaders.
2020
Expanded to three new locations in Carbondale, West Chicago, and Elgin during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mission
To promote the well-being and progress of Michoacan residents, Mexicans, and immigrants in the Midwest of the United States and in their home communities through educational, cultural, productive, and social projects, thus achieving sustainable development.
Vision
To fully recognize the cultural, social, economic, and political significance of the Michoacán, Mexican, and Latin American migrant community in Mexico and the United States of North America.
Key Achievements
Political Advocacy
Secured voting rights for Mexicans abroad in presidential elections and Michoacán residents in gubernatorial elections.
Community Forums
Coordinated five binational forums for Michoacán migrants and a hemispheric summit with 600+ leaders.
Education
Established migrant education centers with 350+ graduates from primary and secondary programs.
Pandemic Response
Provided food and rent assistance to immigrant communities across Illinois during COVID-19.
